How we work

Choice Choice Ghana as an organization seek to empower communities to be capable of accessing opportunities and also able to make life choices for the betterment of their lives. The organisation deploys a hybrid of strategies to achieve this. First and foremost, Choice Ghana is concerned about capacity of staff and procedure in transactions. On the basis of this, staff are intermittently trained to be up to the task. Also established procedures are applied in procurement process and in undertaking or incurring any expenditure; secondly the organisation is source for local and international funding through open competition to directly implement projects. On the basis of ensuring legitimacy, sustainability and widening impact or project gains, Choice Ghana cherishes working closely with relevant stakeholders and partners in achieving this goals. Our implementation strategies in our work has been community sensitisation, direct engagements, training, research and advocacy, learn and share visits.

Stakeholders and Alliances

Choice Ghana as an entity has worked through development or donor partners and alliances geared towards achieving greater impact and ensuring organisational sustainability. While operating as a separate registered entity, Choice Ghana is an active member of CSOs networks Some of these include Northern Network for Education Development (NNED), Ghana National Education Coalition GNEC and coalitions of NGOs in Health.

Until recently when Choice unable to raise the necessary funding (from government and NGO) to implement the ‘Citizen Led Education assessment’ led to the termination Choice Ghana’s Membership to global network call PAL network. At the district level, Choice Ghana is also the leading member of East Gonja Civil Society Association which is a network of CSOs/CBOs in the Eastern Corridor of the Northern Region. Till date Choice Ghana is still seeking to belong to other program area networks to enhance capacity, access resources and widen impact in project implementation.

Communities and local structures have been the principal stakeholders in Choice Ghana’s work. In the education sector for example, Choice Ghana has worked very closely with community level structures such as School Management Committees (SMCs) and SMCs networks as well as Parent Teacher Associations. In all these, public institutions are integral to our stakeholder and partnership list; Choice Ghana has collaborated in many ways with district assemblies and other decentralised agencies and departments at the district and regional levels for effective project implementation. For example Choice Ghana implemented a project in collaboration with the Kpembe Traditional authority with funding contribution from the East Gonja Municipal Assembly. In the Kpandai district, Choice collaborated with the Kpandai District Assembly to implement four different projects (some concurrent) within a space of eight (8) years.

In short, the organization works with government institutions such as the District Assembly, Ghana Education Service, and National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the police service and other state and non-state actors to effect the desire change in the society.

Choice Ghana seek to empower communities to be capable of accessing opportunities for a better life.
